SafePassage Owner Serves on NATSAP Annual Conference Committee
As an opportunity to give back to the community on a national level SafePassage Owner, Holly Hunter, volunteers on the Conference Committee for the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) Annual Conference. The upcoming annual conference will be held in Orlando, Florida, February 9-11, 2012 at Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Hotel. The conference is open to everyone whether you are a professional representing a member or nonmember therapeutic school or program; an school or program alumni; a parent of an at-risk adolescent, or an affiliation like SafePassage that provides support services for the industry, the opportunity is there for all to learn and under gird this vital organization.
The Committee has already begun its work selecting a theme and a keynote speaker. The keynote speaker will be: Richard Stone, storyteller extraordinaire. Rick will be focusing on the healing power of storytelling and how adolescents can use this amazing tool to transform their relationships and ultimately their lives. The theme of the conference is: Experience the magic… come share your story. We are very excited about being at Disney World as it will provide a perfect backdrop for the conference.
We had 60 individuals respond to the Call for Papers and as a result the Committee has been busy reviewing submissions for presentations making a concerted effort to bring interesting topics for the break-out sessions. Committee members feel an inherent responsibility to bring dynamic presenters communicating messages of hope for parents, motivation for alumni and training for educators, educational consultants and program staff and this makes our charge somewhat daunting.
If you are interested in attending the conference please visit the NATSAP website 2012 Annual Conference page and follow the steps for registration.
